With
the approach of every summer season, many final year high school
students will be pondering their options to pursue their higher
education either in Dubai or abroad.
HEIGHTS is all about Higher Education and one of the most important
aspects is the cost of going to university.
While the
HELP (Higher Education Loan Program) provides financial
assistance to students, DAD (Dirham A Day) is the funds this
effort.
The scheme
involves a family head paying one dirham a day for each family member. These students are selected based on merit and need
as described in the HELP section, after which they are given loans for the full period of their
education. At the end of their study they must repay the amount which
is then recycled as new loans to other deserving students.
Most
of you have already made your pledges to the scheme and we ask you to
continue your gracious gesture every year for this worthy cause. Our
current yearly targetis AED 50,000 and it is our aim to make this
fund self-sufficient by 2010. The annual pledge can be paid at the Jamaat office.
Pledges are
not bound by the Dirham A Day idea illustrated above. Any amount
will be appreciated, and will work toward sustaining the success
of this program.
Imam
Jaffer Sadiq (A.S) has said, "Nothing follows a person after his
death except 3 things:
-
The
alms and charity that he may have executed by the grace of Allah in
his life & which continues on after his death (e.g. sawab-e-jari)
-
A
decent & good tradition left over by him which is put into practice
after his death (e.g. spreading knowledge)
-
A
pious son who prays for him (e.g. fateha for marhum)" - Tuhful Aqool,
